Boredom With Your Evening Chores
Boredom with repetitive tasks can be one of the most stressful feelings for a mom to experience.
Your evenings are full of repetitive tasks that require patience, presence, and calmness. Probably the three things most challenging to channel while dealing with tiny humans after a long day.
One more load of dishes, meal(s) cooked, lunches packed, laundry changed, bathes, teeth, potty breaks, bed times stories, melt downs….again and again.
It can all feel monotonous and BORING.
You feel bored. You resist the boredom. You dread the chores and tasks. You show up in a way you don’t love. You judge.
Round and round you go. I’m still fascinated at how I can keep myself stuck in a cycle like this, even though I have ALL the power to change it at any given moment.
How do you get out of this type of stress cycle?
recognize that you are choosing to do these things, no one is forcing you to do them,
stop resisting the boredom…breath it in and acknowledge that it’s an uncomfortable feeling for you (awareness is MAGIC). Practice being bored and watch it get easier and less awful,
ask yourself how you can make it more engaging, interesting, and fun for you.
For example, I put on fun music and get the kids dancing AND helping me. I sing songs with my 6 year old while I shower here. I listen to podcasts or watch a show while I do dishes or fold laundry. I create INTEREST in what my 11 year old is saying by being present with him and his story about his recess.
It’s totally possible to get it all done and NOT feel stressed to the max while you do it. Ready to learn more about your customized plan for getting out of the stress cycle? Click here and set up your free consult.
